The plants have fire risks specific to both the industrial and marine sectors, which is why the NFPA rules and local regulations for industrial installations and the standards and classifications for marine vessels and ships are different, and both need to be taken into account.
Each of the shipyards, manufacturing, repair, energy facilities, warehouses and infrastructure facilities, mobile or fixed loading – equipping equipment, administrative and social structures should be designed in accordance with the fire protection rules of industrial facilities, with the approval of insurance companies, unions, cooperatives or industrial regional directorates to which the shipyards are affiliated, fire safety systems specific project design, engineering solutions should be provided and local approval should be obtained.
Fire pumps, against the negativities of being fed with sea water or the problems of continuous maintenance and repair, cleaning expenses and service provision problems, city network water or water hardness not exceeding the upper limits given by the pump manufacturers, well water should be utilized from reserves that will not be used for other purposes. If these are not available, a small capacitated emergency fire clean water tank should be installed and in case of emergency, pumps manufactured to be resistant to sea water should be used.
In the calculation and installation of the hydrant system, if there is a shipyard-specific fire defense trailer or SHORE SAFETY VESSELS, it is taken into account.
The system is designed with all fixed or mobile JIB CRANE, mobile Crane, including finger scaffolding in shipyards, Transport – loading vehicles are considered as mobile risk.
